Human Rights Association for Victims of Coercive Conversion Programs (HAC) is an organisation that supports victims whose civil rights have been violated and works to protect their freedom of religion. It was established in August 2007 in response to the plea of seven victims. Its purpose is to bring illegal coercive conversion programmes to a halt and aims to raise awareness of the ongoing violation of civil rights committed by pastors of the Protestant denominations in the Republic of Korea to the rest of the world. It is also striving to bring news of this injustice to the national government.

Following the death of Ms. Gu, who was asphyxiated to death in her attempt to escape her parents and coercive conversion pastors on 9th January 2018, a 120,000-strong rally and campaign took place in Seoul, Korea, triggering a wave of similar protests in 23 cities in 15 countries. One such rally was held by HAC in Melbourne, Australia, as supporters gathered in protest for a ban on coercive conversion programmes and enforcement of legal punishment for coercive conversion pastors, who belong predominantly to the Christian Council of Korea (CCK).

The following are the words spoken by the HAC presider at this rally (video link provided below):
“Forced conversion is a clear violation of universal rights for the freedom of religion. These programmes are held by forced conversion pastors who use violence to make people change their religious beliefs. They kidnap, confine and subject victims to violence to try to force them to give up their beliefs. This is wrong. The freedom of religion is a basic human right, and the right of every individual should be protected and their choice respected. It doesn’t matter what your religious beliefs are. Discrimination on grounds of one’s belief is bad enough, but being forced to convert by being physically beaten, bloodied, bruised and stripped of one's dignity is so foul. Enough is enough. Together, with one heart, we must expose these pastors for what they are doing." He concluded, "We want to stop anyone else from being hurt by these wolves in sheep’s clothing. Together, let’s let the world know of their evil acts.”

20,796 people have now commemorated Ms. Gu's death on a commemorative website set up in her memory since her death (weblink provided below). It contains a letter that Ms. Gu had written to the then president of South Korea after her initial escape from a Catholic monastery in July 2016 where she had been held captive for a period of 44 days receiving forced conversion education by these pastors. Within this letter, she pled for a ban to the practice and punishment for these pastors. Her plea was ignored.

As the press within South Korea has largely remained silent on her death as police reports passed off her death as a “family and religious matter”, it was foreign media that spread her news to people around the world. The first major foreign publication occurred on 27th November 2018 in the New York Times which published a full one-page advertisement entitled “Ban Coercive Conversion.” This was immediately followed by a publication in the UK newspaper, ‘The Enquirer’, with an article entitled “Coercive Conversion Programmes" (link provided below).

Although 33 media worldwide have now published Ms. Gu’s death, more publicity needs to be made. Since her death, there have been 137 confirmed victims of coercive conversion this year. This practice goes far beyond violation of one’s “religious freedoms”. In the words of one such victim, “I lived my daily life bound with handcuffs on. I even needed to urinate and defecate in front of my father watching me. It was very shameful.” Today, human rights are violated behind the guise of religion in the supposedly democratic and constitutional South Korea.

Please help spread news of this practice to prevent anyone else falling victim to such injustice. Thank you.

Following the recent graduation of 1737 students from Zion Christian Mission Center into Shincheonji church of Jesus, the total number of graduates this year stands at roughly 20,000 with a monthly average registration of 3000 people. Even though there are currently 400 centres operating in 32 countries, there are not enough centres to contain such exponential growth and accommodate the ‘great crowds’ - 50,000 people to be exact - currently waiting for registration to study.
Many of those who have completed the intensive six-month Bible study programme and graduated are from outside Korea: 487 at the European graduation ceremony in Germany in May, 545 at the Los Angeles one in June, 694 at one in the Republic of South Africa in August, and a mix of different nationalities at the other ones.
The reason why people come to Shincheonji church is because of its teaching, based entirely on the Bible without any external sources, and delivered without cost. It provides a very logical understanding to the Bible through its teaching of history, instruction, prophecy and fulfilment from Genesis to Revelation. The study consists of two months each of elementary, middle, and advanced studies. This covers ways to read the Bible, Biblical history and the study of Genesis and book of Revelation, respectively. These are precious secrets of the Bible, sealed for thousands of years that are made known plainly today. To ensure students acquire solid mastery of the 66 books of the Bible, each one of the three studies is followed by a short exam with two further exams provided at the end of the advanced study, comprising 400 questions (300 for the tribe and 100 general). Upon scoring over 90%, one then graduates.

According to a recent survey of 2000 people in response to the teachings of Shincheonji church of Jesus, 72.6% (1453) responded “very satisfied” and 22% (441) “satisfied”. Only seven students were "unsatisfied" and four "very dissatisfied” (0.5% total). The reasons for graduates’ high levels of satisfaction were "high standards" (1589, 79.45%), a "systemised curriculum" (196, 9.8%), "individually-tailored teaching" (122, 6.1%), "miscellaneous" (93, 4.65%) and "free education without cost" (49, 2.45%). Although 27.7% (544) responded that they received mild persecution by friends and family during the six-month Bible study, they endured through to completion because of “the logic of the word" (88.2%).

The main purpose of this six-month Bible study is not simply to increase numbers, but to ‘re-create’ one into a true believer of the Bible. As instructor Myung-seok Choi of Daegu Church said, "In spite of the increase and advancements of science, technology and human intellect, neither they nor religion have been able to answer the deep questions of life. This is the secret to the rapid growth of Shincheonji church and the reason why students of Zion Christian Mission Center find true religion here as we answer the fundamental questions of life.”

Mr. Kim, who was a pastor in the Korean church and came to study the Bible at Zion Christian Mission Center, "I was surprised to see the theology taught at Shincheonji church…everybody from the pastor to the layman should remove his sunglasses and listen to the revelatory theology of Shincheonji."

In the lead-up to the one year anniversary of the death of Ms. Gu (27), murdered on January 9th 2018 for refusing to renounce her religious beliefs, the press outside South Korea have continued to publicise the evils of the “coercive conversion” programme established and implemented by pastors of the Christian Council of Korea (CCK). A total of 185 overseas media channels, including ABC (American Broadcasting Corporation) 6, CBS (Colombia Broadcasting System) and FOX News Channel 34, have now reported the 28th November New York Times’ advertisement “Ban Coercive Conversion”, which highlights the devastating effects of this practice in what is a supposedly democratic country guaranteeing religious freedoms within article 20 of its constitution.

The reason why foreign, and not national or local, media has brought Ms. Gu’s death to the international limelight is because her death had initially been treated by local police as a 'religious and family issue. After Ms. Gu, who was a believer at Shincheonji Church of Jesus, had escaped her first kidnapping at a Catholic monastery in July 2016, she then petitioned to the then Korean president for justice and for the eradication of the CCK’s coercive conversion programme. However, her plea was ignored and she was kidnapped for a second time before her death on January 9th 2018 as she tried to escape. Despite the gravity of this issue, domestic media has kept her case hidden from the Korean people. ABC6 report has admitted this.

Ms. Gu is the second victim of this coercive conversion programme. On June 7th 2006, Mrs. Kim was kidnapped by her then husband and sister to a nearby motel where she received ‘counselling’ by a pastor of the ‘Korean Cult Counselling Office’ for refusing to renounce her religious beliefs. After her escape and subsequent divorce, her ex-husband bludgeoned her to death with a hammer in October 2007. Korean media remained silent about this issue.

FOX34 wrote, "As a result of the joint effort by the international media, much attention has been paid to human rights violations caused by coercive conversion." Following Ms. Gu’s death, 25 rallies have been held in 17 countries demanding punishment of these pastors - who are mainly from the CCK - and eradication of their coercive conversion programme. Media in 33 countries has actively reported on these rallies.

After a New York citizen heard about Ms. Gu’s death, she started a fundraising campaign on the ‘Go Fund Me’ site, writing "Coercive conversion still continues. I hope the ads will inform the world about the actual situation of coercive conversion of Korea.” The New York Times highlighted the seriousness of the issue, writing "The whole world is paying attention to the violation of religious freedoms and there is an increasing effort to help people who need to be protected from religious persecution." It is disturbing that such events are taking place today in a country like South Korea, the home of K-pop. Coercive conversion continues, with an estimated 140 victims - mainly Korean youth - kidnapped since Ms. Gu’s death.

#Matthias #Shincheonji_Church #Zion_Christian_Mission_Center #CCK

Last Sunday, 1737 people - both Korean and foreign - took part in a beautiful Matthias tribe graduation ceremony in South Korea. These seeking hearts completed an intensive six-month Bible study at Zion Christian Mission Center where they mastered the contents of history, instruction, prophecy and fulfilment from Genesis to Revelation. Moreover, God has granted them perception of the new covenant (promise) that believers must keep today.

Through God's grace and their hard efforts, these believers now belong to one of the twelve tribes of Shincheonji church of Jesus (New Heaven New Earth) and have the opportunity to become the reality of the promised sealed 12,000 per tribe in Rv 7 (who are also the 144,000 in Revelation 14). Everything is being fulfilled according to God and Jesus' promise recorded in the New Testament.

In the midst of widespread corruption and human rights violations committed in the name of religion by pastors of the Christian Council of Korea, people are swarming to study the Bible at Zion Christian Mission Centers throughout the world. More than 200,000 people have until now graduated from Zion Christian Mission Center into Shincheonji church of Jesus, with a further 20,000 expected to graduate within the next few months. If the promises of the Bible are not being fulfilled in Shincheonji church of Jesus, then one should provide tangible evidence to show where else, according to the promises of the Bible.

God has always worked throughout the 6000 years of Biblical history according to the process of prophecy and fulfilment so that, when it happens, we can believe. In every era, God chooses one pastor to fulfil His prophecies and testify about their reality. 2000 years ago, Jesus Christ came to fulfil Old Testament prophecy, sowing God's seed (Jeremiah 31:27) and then promised about future events. There is one who fulfils this promise today. He is Jesus' promised messenger who testifies to the churches (Rv 22:16) who has seen and heard all the events of Revelation and can plainly testify to their fulfilment (Rv 22:8). Today we have the opportunity to listen to his testimony. This is God's love. Please feel free to listen to the sermon he delivered on behalf of God and Jesus during the Matthias tribe graduation ceremony.

#Matthias_Graduation #Shincheonji_Church #Zion_Christian_Mission_Center
On 23rd December 2018 (12noon), Shincheonji church of Jesus will celebrate a Matthias Tribe Graduation ceremony and Dedication service for 1737 graduates of Zion Christian Mission Center! These graduates have now completed an intensive six-month Bible study course, demonstrating mastery of the contents of the Bible. This year, more than 20,000 people have graduated from the Zion Christian Mission Center (Shincheonji church’s department of theology) into Shincheonji church. A further 20,000 are expected to graduate. Here is a list of all the 2018 Zion Christian Mission Centre Graduation Services worldwide:-

- Seoul & Gyeonggi Graduation Service (several tribes), Republic of Korea (18th November: 5945 grads)
- Thaddaeus tribe Graduation Service, Republic of Korea (21st October: 2052 grads)
- Busan & James tribe Graduation Service, Republic of Korea (30th September: 4521 grads)
- Thomas tribe Graduation Service, Republic of Korea (9th September: c.900 grads)
- Philip tribe Graduation Service, Cape Town, Republic of South Africa (12th August: 694 grads)
- Peter tribe Graduation Service, Gwangju, Republic of Korea (24th June: 3111 grads)
- John tribe Graduation Service, Los Angeles, USA (3rd June: 545 grads)
- European Graduation Service, Germany (13th May: 487 grads)

The reason why Shincheonji church has appeared and is growing exponentially is because it is the fulfilment of what God and Jesus promised in the New Testament - the New Heaven New Earth of Revelation 21. It is at Shincheonji church where the entire 66 books of the Bible - from Genesis to Revelation - can be clearly explained according to the contents of history, instruction, prophecy and fulfilment. The quality of the teaching here is unparalleled and unlike any other church or seminary in the world. It is a church where the new covenant, or promise - for which Jesus Christ shed his blood - is made known through Jesus’ promised messenger who has seen and heard all the events of Revelation and testifies it to all the churches of the world (Rv 22:8, 16). Only someone who has been at the actual location can testify to its true meaning.
As Shincheonji church continues to grow exponentially in fulfilment of God's promise, there is always opposition to God's work. The Christian Council of Korea (CCK) has slandered Shincheonji church for years, but the Supreme Court recently ruled in favour of Shincheonji church after their false broadcast of Shincheonji church. In the wake of Ms. Ji-In Gu's death, the whole world is now hearing about the coercive conversion programme which CCK pastors have established and implemented in an attempt to forcibly convert believers from one denomination to another. More than 1200 Korean youth have suffered from this programme, and hundreds of families have been divided. Furthermore, 571 CCK pastors have been sentenced for crimes including forgery, burglary, sexual assault and murder over the last 3.5 years. The CCK is founded on the Presbyterian teachings of John Calvin, who murdered men, women and children who opposed his beliefs on predestination. They sell chairmen positions and ordination certificates, and have blocked many of Shincheonji church’s peace works. In the wake of Ms. Gu’s death, features were published in the New York Times and Washington Post news about their evil deeds is spreading throughout the world. CCK is distorting God's word of promise and has not once accepted the many invitations made by Shincheonji church to engage in public debate over the Bible to prove to the public who is true orthodoxy and true cult.

In spite of such darkness within the Christian world in South Korea, I can only be grateful for the work of light that God is spreading to the world through Shincheonji church. Shincheonji church has mastered the prophecies of the New Testament Revelation that were sealed for 2000 years and is making them known to those with sincere and seeking hearts. This is the best truth for mankind. For me personally, the six-month Bible study at Zion Christian Mission Center was challenging and required me to lay aside my own thoughts and beliefs about the Bible but I am grateful to God that I can finally know the truth and be where God wants me to be. All glory to God.

I hope you enjoy the Graduation service:)

The local police report concluded that the death of Ms. Ji-In Gu (27), who was suffocated by her parents at recreational lodgings in Hwasun, Jeonnam, on January 9th 2018, was merely a "family matter". It was, therefore, not published by the Korean press. Ms. Gu, who was a member of Shincheonji Church of Jesus, had escaped her first kidnapping from a Catholic monastery in July 2016 and later petitioned to the then Korean president for justice and for the eradication of the coercive conversion programme established and implemented by pastors of the Christian Council of Korea (CCK). However, her plea was ignored and her fears of being dragged back on to the programme became a reality, leading to her death.

Ms. Gu is not the first victim of coercive conversion. On June 7th 2006, Mrs. Kim was kidnapped by her then husband and sister to a nearby motel where she received ‘counselling’ by a pastor of the ‘Korean Cult Counselling Office’ for refusing to renounce her religious beliefs. After her escape and subsequent divorce, her ex-husband bludgeoned her to death with a blunt hammer hit to the head  in October 2007.

(US citizen reads the New York Times full-page article "Ban Coercive Conversion" published on 27th November 2018)

Although Article 20 of the Korean Constitution guarantees “freedom of religion”, these cases are indicative of its ineffectiveness. It was overseas media, not the national or local press, which brought their deaths into the international limelight after a 120,000-strong rally in Seoul, Korea, in late January 2018. Since then, there have been 25 rallies in 17 countries urging for these pastors’ punishment and eradication of their coercive conversion programme, and media in 33 countries has actively reported on them. The New York Times reported: "The world is paying attention to the violation of religious freedom and there is an increasing number of efforts to help people who need to be protected from religious persecution." It is shocking that such events are taking place in a supposedly democratic and constitutional country - the home of K-pop.

The reality is that there have been 137 victims of coercive conversion since Ms. Gu’s death. I hope news will spread globally throughout all major media channels to put a permanent end to this menace and bring those pastors to account.

On 1st November 2018, the Christian Broadcasting System (CBS) was ordered by Seoul Southern District Court to pay damages of 50 million Korean Won (c.£35,000) to the plaintiff, Pastor Heewan Joh, following his appeal to a false news article published about him by the broadcasting media corporation. Moreover, CBS was given a period of seven days within which to delete the accusatory article from all websites with a penalty of 10 million Korean Won (c.£7000) each time they republished it. It is very unusual for a judge to order such high damages to the press and journalists in Korea.

CBS’ reporter Jooyeol Song had reported that Pastor Heewan Joh was a ‘Me-Too’ assailant following claims made by Ms. A to CBS that she had suffered as his victim - an allegation that was found to be false by the police. On July 31st 2017, Seoul Southern District Court issued Ms. A with a summary order for defamation of Pastor Joh on the grounds of false allegations. Ms. A demanded a formal trial in August, but the judge ruled in his favour, ordering Ms. A to pay him 2 million Korean Won in damages. The case was closed and Ms. A didn’t lodge a further appeal. It was only in 2018, when the ‘Me-Too’ campaign drew attention, that CBS re-published the above report.

Separate to this case, Pastor Joh had sued Ms. A for defamation and demanded a temporary restraining order. The Masan branch of Changwon District Court quoted Pastor Joh as saying: “A broken woman should not be permitted to spread such disinformation to others at will, post it on the internet, report it to the press or let others do the same.”

Regarding this matter, the department of justice ruled that “Prior to the broadcast, the defendant, Jooyeol Song, asked the plaintiff (Pastor Heewan Joh) about allegations of sexual assault. The following day, the plaintiff responded by reminding her about his demand for a temporary restraining order and the court’s subsequent ruling”. He said, ‘Investigative agencies and the court proved such allegations to be false’”, and, “Reporter Jooyeol Song and CBS reported the news immediately after the plaintiff’s appeal against such allegations of sexual assault.”

Seoul Southern District Court explained “Based on the decision to issue a temporary restraining order and the court’s ruling between the plaintiff and Ms. A, it is logical for one to confirm that these allegations of sexual assault by Ms. A were false. Moreover, the temporary restraining order was issued to prohibit the media from reporting about it”; and “If a reporter or the press wishes to report facts contrary to those accepted by the established criminal court, it must secure sufficient objective and reliable evidence to overturn these facts.”

And the court highlighted, in particular, that “If a report can cause irreparable damage to one’s honor and personality through allegations such as sexual assault, reporters and the press must first set very strict standards, ensuring that they carry out sufficient investigations to find evidence to verify the credibility of these facts, instead of being vaguely convinced by them based on rumour or statements by people with conflicting interests.”

The department of justice added: “Statements by people who once belonged to Sanchang church, presented by CBS and its reporter, cannot be used as a basis to support the credibility of allegations of sexual assault against the plaintiff without sufficient, objective and reliable evidence. There is no evidence of sufficient and appropriate investigation having been carried out by CBS and its reporter, Jooyeol Song, to warrant the broadcast and reporting of this incident.” They went on to say, “As a religious man with high morals and ethics, the plaintiff has been severely dishonored because of the broadcast and reports. Moreover, he is now subject to considerable limitations with regards his social movements, and has been expelled from his presbytery. CBS and its reporter Jooyeol Song reported the plaintiff’s full name and church without first reporting any objective evidence to support its explanation of the plaintiff according to the preceding court sentence.” The plaintiff suffered mental distress, societal exclusion and violation of personal rights and, in the words of the court ruling, “Reporter Jooyeol Song and CBS jointly bear the responsibility for paying compensation to the plaintiff.”

In other news, global media coverage of the death of Ms. Ji-In Gu from the religious “coercive conversion” programme established and implemented by pastors of the Christian Council of Korea (CCK) is now reaching ears all over the world. CBS is a key ally of the CCK and, recently, they jointly slandered Shincheonji Church of Jesus through an eight-part documentary which the Supreme Court later ruled as false and groundless with harsh penalties imposed. It is only a matter of time before CBS and CCK crumble and the CCK’s congregation members come out and learn the correct understanding of the Christian scripture.

#Shincheonji_church #RememberGu #CCK #HumanRights #Coercive_Conversion_Program #Ban_CCP
With growing global media coverage of the death of Ms. Gu which have included features in the Washington Post and the New York Times, people around the world of faith and no faith are hearing about the inhumane “coercive conversion programme” established and implemented by pastors of the Christian Council of Korea (CCK) which has led to two deaths and roughly 1200 kidnappings of mainly Korean youth forcibly converted to other religious beliefs.

However, Shincheonji Church of Jesus has released statistics about crimes committed by pastors of the Korean Church, which will be expected to make an impact nationwide. Of the 12,000 crimes committed from 2008-2018, the majority (7000) are from the Seoul and Geyonggi provinces. 531 pastors in the Korean capital, Seoul, have been sentenced for crimes including fraud, burglary, forgery, defamation, drink-driving, arson, sexual assault and even murder over the last 3.5 years. The number of crimes committed by the Korean protestant church (of which the CCK constitutes a majority) are four times higher than that of the Catholic Church. Moreover, the occupation responsible for committing the highest number of sex-related crimes are (mainly protestant) pastors. Take a look at four separate cases.

#Case 1. A Cambodian girl – aged only 12 years – confided in a Korean pastor, swallowing a pill he gave her. This pastor filmed an act of sexual intercourse with this young girl and even forced her parents to remain silent about it. As many as nine girls have suffered in the same way - all aged between 12 and 17. In October 2016, Cambodian police swiftly arrested this pastor (Pastor Park), sentencing him to 14 years in prison and £55,000 in damages.
#Case 2. The above image is of a house in Bucheon, Gyeonggi province, where the bony body of a Grade 7 girl was discovered in February 2016 after suffering from domestic abuse. Her body had been disposed of for one year before being found. In March 2015, her 40-year-old father Pastor Lee had beaten his daughter to death, repeatedly hitting her palms, calves and thighs.

#Case 3. A sentence of five years imprisonment was delivered to Pastor Hwang, former secretary of the Korean Presbyterian Church of Jesus, who was arrested for stabbing a fellow pastor in November 2015. He had previously appeared with a gas gun during a sermon.

#Case 4. Pastor Yonggi Joh, who had founded Yeouido Full Gospel Church that has grown to become the largest church in the East with one million followers, ordered the church to buy 250,000 stocks of the I-Service company - owned by his eldest son Heejun Joh, former C.E.O. of Gookmin Daily - at nearly four times above the 2002 market value of 24,000 Korean Won per share. This cost Yeouido Full Gospel Church 13.1 billion Korean Won in damages. He, along with his eldest son Heejun Cho, was convicted of embezzlement.

This is not the first time that pastors' crimes have been revealed. According to previous statistics published by the Public Prosecutor's Office in 2012, the number of violent crimes committed that year - including murder, arson, robbery, rape etc. - stood at 25,485. 25.2% (6414 cases) were committed by people in positions of religious influence! The majority were committed by Christians (2840). This is the condition of Christianity in Korea today. Crimes continue in spite of pleas urging for justice but light is on the horizon as Shincheonji Church works to expose these deeds.

#Coercive_Conversion_Program #Ban_CCP

This is the image of a church building in Daejeon where Mr. Yoo-mi Kang was detained for more than one month after being kidnapped by his family in the late hours of June 24th 2018. He was placed in an entirely isolated area in what he said felt more like a research complex than a residential area. He had no contact with the outside world as his phone had been taken from him at the time of the kidnapping. He was placed under constant surveillance, unable to lock the door to the bathroom in case of escape. His family pressed him to sign in agreement to receiving coercive conversion education, but the more he rebelled, the more threats were made against him. This goes far beyond being a 'family matter', as the pastors of the Christian Council of Korea (CCK) allege in their defence. This is an outright violation of one's basic human rights.

After three weeks confinement, a male evangelist and three women found 20 books about Shincheonji Church of Jesus in his possession and transferred him to the above property: a rural house on Changnyeong Rd, Yeongcheon, Gyeonsangbuk-do province. His family pressed him to sign a compulsory conversion training agreement with the threat "If you don’t do this, you won't get out of here." After he signed, a telephone conversation with a 'pastor' responsible for delivering coercive conversion education was made to verify whether he was willing to accept this education. He replied bluntly that he was not. This process repeated itself three times until he eventually began education in the second week of July 2018. Kang’s situation was refused food for five days and cried alone for three weeks. But, in his words, “I couldn’t find a police officer even if I shouted...if a person disappears, how can the world remain quiet? This is the reality in the Republic of Korea."

In the wake of growing global media coverage over the death of Ms. Ji-In Gu from the religious coercive conversion programme, Shincheonji church has published a brochure entitled 'Notice regarding Christian Corruption’.

The main purpose of this brochure was to inform Korean people about the corruption of the Korean church over the last 130 years to mae the truth known to the Korean people. During Japanese colonial rule (1910-1945), the majority Presbyterian and Methodist churches served as informants to the Japanese occupiers. They sold them weapons for use against their own people and bowed down to Japanese gods, inciting pastors of other denominations to do the same. They provided military supplies to the occupiers, including a battle plane named ‘Joseon Presbyterian Aircraft’. On a spiritual level, they broke the very first of the Ten Commandments by worshipping other gods including the Yasukuni Shrine. Church buildings were even used to sing the Japanese National Anthem (Kimigayo).

The Korean Presbyterian church has never once publicly acknowledged their pro-Japanese stance. Instead, they have continued to dominate Korean Christianity and supported every subsequent government with their own vested interest for power and authority. The CCK - founded in December 1989 on the teachings of the 16th century theologian, John Calvin, who killed men, women and children who opposed his beliefs on predestination - bribed voters for positions as chairman and sold pastor certificates. In more recent times, they established the heinous religious coercive conversion programme and implemented it, leading to two deaths and over 1000 kidnappings in South Korea in recent times.

The brochure also makes known many of the 12,000 crimes that 571 pastors have been sentenced for in the last four years including burglary, forgery, sexual assault ,and even murder. Spiritually, the CCK has sown the seed of lies into their congregation members’ hearts regarding the word of God and has declared war against Shincheonji church, obstructing numerous peace works designed for the reunification of the Korean peninsula. Shincheonji church, on the other hand, has declared peace, and recent allegations made against it by CCK and its allied CBS (Christian Broadcasting System) were all ruled as false by the Supreme Court with an order to pay Shincheonji church high damages. Fake news spreads widely to the Korean public through the many Christian media organisations without first providing objective and reliable evidence for their claims. They do this to keep close hold over their congregation members, thereby damaging the reputation of Shincheonji church.

According to the promises of the Bible, Shincheonji church is the promised new kingdom and new people who have been purchased with the blood of Jesus and reborn with the seed of God. The CCK, on the other hand, is the first heaven and first earth (Rv 6, 21:1) which is ageing and becoming obsolete. Shincheonji church opens its doors to allow pastors and congregation members of the CCK to come out and lean the revealed word.

After the betrayal of Adam and Noah’s worlds, God came to Abraham and promised him about future events, which God fulfilled through Moses and the twelve tribes of physical Israel. Under King Solomon, physical Israel later betrayed God by worshipping false gods (1Kings 11), just like Adam did (Hos 6:7). Therefore, God made promises about future events through the Old Testament prophets, which He fulfilled through Jesus Christ 600 years later (Jn 19:30). Jesus then promised about future events recorded in the New Testament Book of Revelation. Today, at the time of the fulfilment of these promises, Jesus is working through his promised messenger who has seen and heard all the events of Revelation and can testify plainly about them (Rv 22:8, 16).

Through the blood that Jesus shed on the cross 2000 years ago, he has purchased a new kingdom and people (Rv 1:5-6; Rv 5:9-10; Rv 7, 14). This is the promised sealed 12 tribes of New Heaven New Earth (see Rv 21) who will receive salvation and dwell eternally with God. Belief in God and Jesus is believing in what they promised.

However, as at the time of Jesus’ first coming, there will be those who see and believe in the fulfillment of the New Testament promises (Rv 1:3), those who do not (Rv 22:18-19), and those who betray and receive judgment. As long as one bases his or her faithwalk on the word of God, one can freely perceive this new covenant and receive salvation. God and Jesus are the word and in it are light and life (Jn 1:1-5). This is incredibly hopeful and God’s will for the salvation of all His creation.💙

Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion; this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom, either alone or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and observance. (Article 18 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights)

In the latest coverage following the death of Ms. Ji-In Gu from the practice of “coercive conversion”, the Washington Post has published an article, dated December 4th 2018, entitled “Two dead, thousands kidnapped through CCK’s coercive religious conversion program.”

“Coercive conversion" programmes have swept through many churches in South Korea, particularly those connected to the Christian Council of Korea (CCK). Within such programmes, pastors assume a role as “conversion trainers” whereby - in exchange for a significant fee - they advise parents to take various physically, emotionally and psychologically violent methods to convince their child to convert from lesser known religions to that of the Korean Presbyterian church. Parents are even told to sedate their child before being taken to an isolated location where they meet their conversion trainers.

The CCK has founded the “Heresy Research Center” to run coercive conversion programmes in the name of “counselling”. As Ms. Ji Hye Choi, HAC Co-President, says, "The problem is that conversion program leaders call the program 'counseling,' masking their true intent for the opportunity of financial profit.” Indeed, one CCK minister has even received up to $894,425USD for their guidance. She continued, “The consequences are destructive: mental trauma, fear, strained family relationships, divorce, job loss, school dropout and even death."

Such a practice clearly violates religious freedoms enshrined within both the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and Article 20 of the Constitution of South Korea, but more so, it constitutes a violation of one's basic human rights. A petition has been signed by up to 140,000 people on a government website, but it has been removed and the government has, of yet, not released a single statement following the death of Ms. Ji-In Gu.

“Denominations who exercise those actions are not Christian. They are extremist and anti-Christian. I want to ask them: in which chapter and which verse are you following to commit such bad actions? If the Bible does not say so, why are you doing that?"

Recent global media coverage of the murder of Ms. Ji-In Gu from the religious “coercive conversion” programme established and implemented by pastors of the Christian Council of Korea (CCK) has reached the ears and eyes of people all over the world.

Since its founding in December 1989, the CCK has shown its vested interest in politics, bought and sold positions and ordainment certificates for money and distorted the words of God’s promise (the new covenant), sowing lies into congregation members’ hearts by making their own interpretations of the Bible, making them children of the devil born of the devil’s seed (Mt 13:39). Furthermore, in the late 1990s, an ex-chairman of CCK spread rumours to the entire Korean Christian community about a forthcoming rapture to heaven; yet the church is still standing. Is this the work of a true pastor? Can this organisation be considered Orthodox or a church of Jesus?

CCK’s congregation members - who once numbered 12 million - are now leaving in droves after having perceived their lies and the dirty mesh of religion and politics. They neither believe in what their leaders preach nor vote as they are told to. Their membership has fallen to 1.9million and continues to fall dramatically.
The CCK is being destroyed from its lack of knowledge (refer to Hosea 4:6) and has declared war against Shincheonji Church of Jesus (hereonin Shincheonji Church), but Shincheonji Church has declared peace (refer to Mt 5:9-10) and is rapidly growing. The CCK blocked Shincheonji Church’s numerous works of peace including the erection of peace monuments such as the Declaration of the Reunification of Korea and the largest hand-printed Korean flag that is currently recorded in the Guinness Book of Records, and has interfered with numerous Shincheonji Church’s volunteer works. Moreover, it crushed Shincheonji Church’s image before the whole world through its March 2015 eight-part documentary broadcast by Christian Broadcasting System (CBS) - “People who fell into Shincheonji Church" - which was ruled as groundless by the Supreme Court, ordering CBS to pay hefty damages and retract this broadcast. With thoughts on the pain of the previously experienced by the apostles and the word of Jesus in Matthew 5:9-10, Shincheonji Church has endured these lies with love and invited the CCK to engage in public debate over the Bible on numerous occasions, but they have never accepted this invitation.

Perhaps worst of all is the “coercive conversion programmes” which violate human rights on every level and has led to two deaths and over 1000 kidnappings. The CCK has used this practice in an attempt to bring their congregation members, who have fled to a different denomination due to their corruption, back to them. These are not the actions of Christianity, but of Calvin (who established Presbyterianism upon which the CCK is founded) and murdered men, women and children who opposed his theory on predestination.

Moreover, CCK conversion pastors deceive the parents of Shincheonji Church’s youth, receiving weekly payments of approximately 600,000KRW (£420), and educate parents on ways to convert their child, forcefully feeding them sleeping pills, taking away their cell phones, handcuffing them, confining them in isolated places, beating them into signing an agreement to receive conversion programmes and forcing them to apply for a leave of absence from school or work until they sign for conversion education. If children are still not converted, they are sent to psychiatric wards. Parents then return to their child’s church and shout out all sorts of profanities, saying “give back my son (daughter)”. What do you think about this?

The CCK will not stand for long. Ms. Gu’s death has triggered a wave of global protests as this news is being made known to religious communities and people all over the world through media and press in various countries. The UN has condemned the CCK’s coercive conversion programme and is calling for its abolishment. The entire world is crying out for the CCK to shut down for their oppression of the freedom of religion and human rights. They are aware of this.

According to the Bible, there will be a time of judgment whereby one’s actions will be judged according to what is recorded in the Bible, resulting in either heaven or hell (Revelation 20:12-15).
Shincheonji Church has appeared according to what God and Jesus promised in the Book of Revelation, has mastered its prophecies and the word of God here is being delivered freely without cost through the mouth of the messenger (promised pastor) promised by Jesus Christ (Revelation 22:16). Here is the creation of the promised twelve tribes of new heaven and new earth, which is a new kingdom and new people (Rv 21:1). It is the desire of every Shincheonji Church congregation member that the pastors of the CCK turn from their ways, come to hear the true word of God and receive salvation.

A non-profit advertisement entitled “Ban Coercive Conversion” was published in the New York Times on November 28th showing a wolf in sheep’s clothing clutching a wad of cash and a chain while a woman is tied up, ready to be burnt at the stake. The purpose of this jerking advertisement is to raise awareness of the recent case of Ms. Ji-In Gu who was, on two separate occasions, kidnapped by her parents to a secluded location and suffocated to death in late December 2017 for refusing to renounce her religious beliefs. Her case is just one of over 1000 in South Korea whereby youth are forcibly converted from minor Christian denominations to the main Presbyterian teaching, through a programme called "coercive conversion". This programme was established and is implemented by pastors of the Christian Council of Korea (CCK); an organisation founded in 1989 consisting of an alliance of Christian denominations - the majority being Presbyterian.
In response to Ms. Gu’s death, 120,000 people gathered at a public rally in Seoul, Korea, urging for legal punishment on these Christian pastors and putting an end to this illegal practice. This was followed by dozens of rallies worldwide. In the words of Pastor Noel Malik, Director of Pakistan Minorities Alliance in Italy, “Denominations who exercise those actions are not Christian. They are extremist and anti-Christian. I want to ask them. In which chapter and which verse are you following to do such bad action? If the Bible does not say, why are you doing that?"

This is much more than just a violation of one’s religious freedoms in 21st century Korea. It is a clear violation of one’s human rights, hidden beneath the guise of religion. Pastors evade the law by deceiving parents into believing that their child has fallen into a ‘cult’; therefore absolving themselves of any responsibility. Moreover, during the last four years, 571 pastors of the Presbyterian Church have been sentenced for crimes including forgery, drink-driving and sexual assault.

The CCK and its heinous coercive conversion programme, which has raised 137 cases since Ms. Gu’s death this year alone, needs to come to an end. Ms. Jihye Choi, co-president of Human Rights Association for Victims of Coercive Conversion Programs (HAC) in South Korea, said “In order to root out this kind of anti-human rights conversion, international interest is of tremendous importance". It is, therefore, fitting that this publication appeared in the New York Times and is spreading all over the world. Something must give. In the words of H.E. Samuel Sam-Sumana, Former Vice President of Government of Sierra Leone, “Governments should be encouraged and supported to develop clearly defined policies and laws against forceful conversion and those policies and laws should be fully enforced.”

The Korean government has yet to publicly acknowledge Ms. Gu’s death.

Shortly after the murder of 25-year-old Ms. Ji-In Gu, rallies were held simultaneously throughout several cities in the Republic of Korea on 28th January 2018. Cities included Seoul, Daejeon, Daegu, Busan, Gwangju and Jeonju with a total turnout of 140,000 people. With banners raised high, participants urged for the punishment of forced conversion pastors and criminalisation of their coercive conversion programme which has led to two murders, 1000 kidnappings of Korean youth and severe family division and social exclusion.

Those responsible for designing and implementing this programme are pastors of the Christian Council of Korea (CCK). It involves manipulating a parent into forcibly taking his or her child to a confined location for weeks and months where they are subjected to repeated conversion education in an attempt to get them to sign and convert from their minor religion to the mainstream Korean Presbyterian church to which these pastors belong. Victims who do not comply are put into psychiatric wards in exchange for money. Is this not an outright violation of basic human rights disguised behind religious motives? It utterly disregards the freedom of religion enshrined within the Korean Constitution.

Rallies were sparked by the death of Ms. Gu, who received coercive conversion education in a Catholic monastery by pastors and evangelists of the Christian Cult Counselling of Korea for a period of 44 days and, after her escape, pled in a letter to the then-Korean president for justice before being re-captured and killed. This is the second death resulting from such a practice after the first in 2007. The number of such cases is increasing nationwide and is becoming a huge societal issue.

The rallies included a commemoration to the life of Ms. Gu and exposure of the practice of coercive conversion through video broadcasts and various performances.

The widespread practice of coercive conversion by pastors of the CCK and its support by Christian Broadcasting System (CBS) must come to an end. In the words of Mr. Ok-Soon Park, one of the main organisers of the rally in Daejeon, "In order to prevent further injustice in a climate where more than 1000 people nationwide have become victims of coercive conversion, it is imperative to enforce legal punishment on these criminal pastors who are leading coercive conversion programmes and prohibit the practice."
