Shincheonji Andrew Church Holds 50th Traditional Market 'Plogging Experience' for Promotion of Environmental Protection & Community Volunteerism

On the 7th July, the Shincheonij Andrew Church held its 50th week of community-based traditional market plogging (jogging + picking up litter) at the Busanjin Market area in Busan, Republic of Korea.

“This kind of service is rare to see, and it feels like the neighbourhood has become cleaner and the residents’ sentiments have brightened.”

As the Shincheonji Andrew Church held its 50th week of community-based traditional market plogging (jogging + picking up litter) at the Busanjin Market area in Busan, Republic of Korea, on 7th July, a citizen passing by made this comment.

In temperatures that soared beyond 35C, 15 young volunteers joined hands to beautify the traditional market streets by amassing nearly 200 litres of household waste, including cigarette butts, plastic packaging, and food waste bags.

Merchants at Busanjin Market expressed gratitude for the affinity established with the volunteers and the cleanup of their storefronts despite the stifling heat.

Meanwhile, the Shincheonji Andrew Church has held this activity weekly since July of last year as part of an environmental campaign that seeks to promote environmental protection and a culture of practical volunteerism in everyday life.
