On the 30th of March, the Cheongpyeong branch of Shincheonji Volunteer Group held the 'Healing & Wellbeing Experience for Persons of Disability and the Beautiful Seniors' event at the Gapyeong Centre for Independent Living for Persons of Disability.

Gapyeong County, Gyeonggi Province, Republic of Korea, has a high proportion of elderly people, and the Shincheonji Volunteer Group, which has been quietly conducting volunteer work for the elderly and persons of disability for a number of years, organised the event in response to its selection as a support project promoted by the Gyeonggi Provincial Volunteer Centre.

'Beautiful Seniors' is a volunteer activity that promotes a healthy and happy retirement for seniors under the slogan, ‘One beautiful day is wonderful enough.’

On that day, the Cheongpyeong branch provided not only various hair and beauty services to satisfy aesthetic needs and relieve financial burden through professional hairdressers, but also paraffin hand care treatment and nail programmes to help treat arthritis, as well as various dementia prevention programmes.

Jong-cheol Kim, director of the Gapyeong Centre for Independent Living for Persons of Disability, said, “The Cheongpyeong branch always remembers persons with disabilities and steps in to provide volunteer services. That is why they and senior participants who visit the centre are happy,” and urged, “We ask you to do volunteer work in the second half of the year as well.”
