We Are One, a youth volunteer group, held a blood donation campaign closing ceremony, completing 40,000 blood donations in three months.

We Are One Director Jun-soo Hong, Korean Red Cross Blood Management Division Director Nam-seon Cho, and other officials from each organisation participated in the 'We Are Red Life-Sharing Campaign 2023: Life ON YOUTH ON 40,000 Blood Donation Ceremony' held at the Winners Café in Suwon city, Gyeonggi province on the 3rd November.

We Are One had a total of 41,089 members in South Korea participate in blood donations for three months from July to October 2023, and the amount raised through blood donations was 236,471,000 KRW (£1470).

Nam-seon Cho, head of the Blood Management Division, said in a congratulatory speech, “We Are One had about 41,000 people participate in blood donation this year, a continuation from 73,000 last year, which was of great help in stabilising the blood supply at a time when a decline in blood donations was expected, particularly during the summer and Chuseok holidays.” He expressed his gratitude by saying, “In addition, by choosing to donate blood, they have contributed to the growth of the culture of voluntary blood donations. All of the money raised will be used for neighbours in need, including the medically vulnerable, and for emergency support and scholarship projects.”

He then emphasised, “Blood cannot be produced artificially and can only be obtained through giving blood, so the blood donation campaign of We Are One members has shone brightly and added even more value at the time of the blood supply crisis.”

We Are One Director Jun-su Hong said, “We would like to thank every person working at the Blood Management Centre of the Korean Red Cross, in blood centres and bloodmobiles across the country for making the blood donation campaign a success,” and added, “We will continue to participate in the blood donation service to ensure a stable blood supply in the future.”

Examples of excellent blood donation campaigns include the We Are One Daegu-Gyeongbuk Branch, which completed blood donations by 2000 people in one month, and the We Are One Jeonbuk Branch members who participated in a total of 44 blood donation services, starting with the We Are One blood donation campaign last year.

Meanwhile, immediately following the launch of We Are One in July 2022, 70,000 members participated in a blood donation to overcome the blood supply emergency at the time, and a record was registered in the Guinness Book of World Records. This year, more than 40,000 members participated in the blood donation campaign to ensure a stable supply of blood during the holiday season.
