On the 13th August, the Pyeongtaek branch of We Are One (We Are One Pyeongtaek) is conducting environmental clean-up activities in Tongbok Stream, Pyeongtaek City |
In light of the dirt amassed in the wake of Typhoon Kanun, youth volunteers from the Pyeongtaek branch of We Are One (hereinafter referred to as We Are One Pyeongtaek) stepped forward to conduct a cleanup of Tongbok Stream in Pyeongtaek city, Gyeonggi province, despite the sweltering heat on the 13th August.
Tongbok Stream is a popular trail for many citizens. Youth members of We Are One Pyeongtaek removed contaminants such as floating matter and litter from the upper reaches of the river due to the typhoon, in order to provide a pleasant walking trail for citizens, and inspected the river area.
On that day, about 10 volunteers carried out the clean-up work in temperatures exceeding 30 degrees Celsius.
Jun-sik Kim (pseudonym), who participated in the volunteer service, said, “It was a bit difficult in the heat and humidity, but I worked joyfully thinking of the citizens who will use this place.”
An official from We Are One Pyeongtaek said, “As a volunteer group made up of young people, we will strive to become an organisation that serves with passion throughout the community.”
To work in such extreme heat, they really do have the heart of sacrifice to help others <3
