Shincheonji Cheongju Church successfully holds 'We are Family' event in Family Month of May

 

Shincheonji Church of Jesus, the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony (Shincheonji Church of Jesus) regularly opens its doors to the public to provide sound teaching through Bible-based lectures on a range of topics, especially the Book of Revelation, address existing misunderstandings and prejudices about Shincheonji among the Christian community, and foster deeper ties with communities throughout South Korea.

From the 12th to the 14th May, Shincheonji Cheongju Church (Head lecturer Mu-gyeom Je, Matthias Tribe) of Shincheonji Church of Jesus, the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony successfully held the three-day 'We Are Family: Spring' event in celebration of the Family Month of May.

The event, held to promote family communication, consisted of recreational activities, lectures, and performances and was attended by family members and acquaintances of Shincheonji members. As the warm weather continued throughout the festival, more than 9000 people, including Shincheonji members and their families, visited the site of the event.

Various booths, including blood pressure therapy for the elderly, aromatherapy, colouring, and board games were set up so that people of all ages could take part and have fun. In addition, a large air bounce was installed outside the church, and both children and adults enjoyed the slides, basketball and football bouncy house.

Mi-sook Kim, a housewife in her 40s who visited the event with her child, said, “What was most meaningful was being able to have a good time with my family at church.”

◆ “A meaningful event for Family Month”
In particular, Shincheonji Church prepared a mini lecture on the theme of 'Communication and Empathy for Restoration of Healthy Family Relationships'. Through a lecture decorated with a short one-act play along with Tolstoy's fables, the attendees reflected on the sincerity they wish to convey to their loved ones. After that, a thematic music performance to conclude the lecture was given.

Geum-suk Choi, a lecturer at the seminar, said, “What's most important for a healthy family relationship is open communication and mutual understanding.

Andrea, a Peruvian who works in Korea, said, “Even in my home country, Peru, I've never seen a church hold an event on this scale. The performance was also very impressive.”

Milagro, a Venezuelan who also attended, said, “Today is my fourth visit to the church. I tell people that I've come to Korea and started a family. And it's a very big family! Everyone in this church is like family. I love them.”

The event concluded with a final lecture at 3:00 pm on the 14th. According to an official from Shincheonji Church of Jesus, not only the invited guests but also the church members were satisfied with the experience of entire families gathering to enjoy this event.

Mu-gyeom Je, head lecturer at Shincheonji Cheongju Church, said, “We hope this event has provided a valuable opportunity for all participants, who have found it difficult to express themselves out of awkwardness or embarrassment, to convey a heart of care and sincerity to those they love. I hope the month of May will usher in new beginnings. We will continue to hold various events at Shincheonji Cheongju Church to convey the heart of warmth and love to the local community.”
