Jeonbuk 'Hope Dream Lecture', “There was a reason for going to Shincheonji”

[Cheonji Ilbo, Jeonbuk = Reporter Dong-hyun Kim] A talk was held on the 7th and 9th at The May Hotel in Jeonju, Jeonbuk on the theme of 'Hope of Life', connecting with attendees' interests and drawing attention.

About 3,000 people attended the two-day lecture. The lecture was structured in a way in which the lecturer of Shincheonji Church of Jesus participated in a Q&A session with the moderator to answer questions about Shincheonji Church. To this, attendees responded that it was refreshing to listen to.

In particular, among the questions received from the attendees through a survey in advance, the moderator selected sensitive but curious questions that piqued the interests of the attendees.

The lecture attendees had asked questions about the common knowledge of Shincheonji, such as dropping out of education, leaving jobs, divorce, family discord, donations, and whether Shincheonji is a heresy, and the lecturer explained all these in detail.

In addition, on the subject of misunderstandings and truths about Shincheonji, the lecturer clearly explained the misunderstandings and truths about Shincheonji that occurred along with the outbreak of COVID-19 by citing reported news and articles, legal procedures and their outcomes at the time.

Shincheonji Thomas tribe, which hosted the lecture, said, “As the first face-to-face seminar held since the COVID-19 pandemic, we prepared this time to communicate with the public through an open lecture.”

Joong-il Choi, leader of Thomas tribe, who served as the lecturer of the Hope Dream Lecture, said, “Unlike other established churches, Shincheonji Church does not ask people to come to church, but to listen to the Word. So, if you listen to the Word yourself and you think it is correct, you can believe in the Word, and if you think the Word is wrong, you can continue to believe as you have been before.”

A local resident (50s, male, Jeonju, North Jeolla Province) who attended the lecture said, “Every lecture question was quite imposing, but they gave clear answers to rather difficult questions on the topics of education and work among the youth of Shincheonji Church, and family and divorce among the middle-aged and older congregation. The lecture helped me a lot to understand.”

Meanwhile, Shincheonji Church of Jesus is drawing attention since producing 106,186 graduates last year and signing MOUs with many pastors despite the COVID-19.
