On 24th November 2019, Newsis News Agency published an article about the work of Shincheonji Volunteer Group’s 16th blood donation event in Busan, Republic of Korea (South Korea). This is a translation of that article.

The West Busan branch of Shincheonji Volunteer Group, whose volunteers transcend religion, race and border, held their 16th ‘Blood Donation of Love’ event inside Busan branch church.

The blood donation event was designed to help children with leukaemia and address national blood shortages that have resulted from reduced blood-giving during the winter months.

The event was organised by Shincheonji Volunteer Group’s West Busan Branch with roughly 400 people donating blood throughout the day. Three blood banks were provided by the Korean Red Cross’ Busan Blood Centre.

Members of Shincheonji Volunteer Group have participated in sharing life with the local community by actively participating in this life-giving movement which those aged 16+ can take part in.

One volunteer, Ms. Ji-yeon Shin (35), who participated in the blood donation event, submitted 40 blood donor cards, saying, “I donated generously to join in this good work." Mr. Dongha You, head of Shincheonji Volunteer Group’s West Busan branch, said, “The ‘Blood Donation of Love’ event was organised in order to help children suffering from leukaemia. We will continue in our efforts in creating a brighter world.”

A representative of the Korean Red Cross’ Busan Blood Center said, “Although blood supplies are low, Shincheonji Volunteer Group, to whom we are very grateful, continues to steadily participate in its precious blood donation campaign.”

400 blood donors - members of West Busan church - donated 260 blood donor cards. Therefore, a total of 2800 people have participated in the event thus far, having donated a total of 3100 blood donor cards.

Meanwhile, Shincheonji Volunteer Group has partnered with 72 national and international volunteer agencies to serve marginalised communities, improve road networks, implement environmental clean-up campaigns, cook and deliver homemade lunches, provide beauty services and paint murals. Shincheonji Volunteer Group puts love for its neighbours into practice through various cultural and volunteer activities.
