On 16th December 2019, Gyeonggi Daily published an
article entitled “Shincheonji Church of Jesus,
The Temple of The Tabernacle of the Testimony’s One-Year Growth and Bible-centred
faith will usher in a new era of one million members.” This is a translation of that article.
Official Ceremony of 103,764 Graduates within One Year
Open Bible Seminar in seven major cities in South Korea throughout October
and November
Follow-up online and offline Bible study inquiries
Additional seminars, conferences and acts of service…working non-stop
year round
With less than one month left
this year, the religious community has been heating up domestically. Religious
officials have pointed to the activities of Shincheonji Church of Jesus, The
Temple of The Tabernacle of the Testimony (Shincheonji Church of Jesus) with
its various volunteer activities, seminars and graduation ceremony in the last
year. Shincheonji Church of Jesus was founded in 1984 and is an abbreviation of
“Shin-cheon-Shin-ji”, the Chinese characters for “New Heaven New Earth” that is
promised to appear in the Bible. It is making a breakthrough by systematically
teaching the entire Bible from Genesis to Revelation through prophecy and
fulfilment. Furthermore, to enter the church, students must pass an examination
after completing a free six-month Bible study course at the Zion Mission
Center. This year, the number of new congregation members will exceed 300,000.
This article highlights Shincheonji Church of Jesus’ achievements over the past
year and the Bible-centred faith it promotes.
■Last month’s 100,000 graduation ceremony…“Predicted to grow to one million believers via Bible teaching.”
Graduate
Aaron Kim said, “I've been a pastor until now, but it hurts me to say that I
realised I had been teaching people lies as I came to study the Word at Zion Mission
Center.” On 10th November, the '100,000 Graduation Ceremony of the 12 tribes of
Shincheonji: Class 110 Zion Mission Center’ was held in 113 countries including
the Seoul Metropolitan Area and churches in Busan (Andrew tribe) and Gwangju (Peter
tribe). Aaron Kim continues to reflect on his past three years of pastoral
activities and on his future commitments.
After the six-month Zion Mission
Center course, which is Shincheonji Church of Jesus’ free Bible teaching
institution, students can be officially registered into the church as new congregation
members. The ‘100,000 Graduation Ceremony’ - 103,764 people officially registered
to be exact - has made evangelistic history.
Religious officials are identifying
fundamental differences between the established denominations and Shincheonji Church
of Jesus. To enter Shincheonji Church of Jesus, one must complete their
six-month Bible study course at Zion Mission Center, and pass a subsequent exam.
During this period, teaching is divided into basic, intermediate and advanced
level courses that cover Genesis to Revelation. Students must score above 90% in
their exam to complete the course. Content focuses on proving fulfilment of
prophecy in the Bible, unlike the Biblical teachings of established
denominations which rather focus on history and instruction. Rather than passively
preaching a life of faith, congregation members are trained to teach the Gospel
through study of the Word.
A spokesperson for Shincheonji
Church of Jesus said, “In addition to these
graduates, there are more than 200,000 people currently studying the Bible
here. We will continue to preach the living God through His word, transcending
ethnicity, culture and religion.”
■The
Word that Chairman Man Hee Lee teaches speaks for itself. The Bible's keyword is
‘harvest’
Man Hee Lee, Chairman of Shincheonji
Church of Jesus, regularly preaches the Bible to congregation members from the
pulpit. However, this was extended to pastors outside as Chairman Lee delivered
a seminar at Gapyeong Peace Institute on 7th December 2019 to wrap up this
great tour preaching the Gospel.
The event, which began at 2pm, was
attended by pastors all over the country who listened to the fulfilment of Biblical
prophecies. More than 400 pastors, evangelists and church officials attended. It was a final close to the ‘Open Bible
Seminar on the Second Coming and Harvest’ that took place in October. Before
his lecture, Chairman Lee said, “I am the
messenger sent according to Jesus' promise to tell the churches about the
fulfillment of the book of Revelation. Today, I want to talk to you in detail.
If you hear something that you don't agree with, please first listen. I will
open my heart and communicate with you like a good friend."
The chairman particularly
emphasised the Biblical era and role of pastors today. “We need to know what time we’re living in now. It is written that the
second coming will be like the times of Noah. Likewise, we have to get on the ark to be saved. The same can be said today. It is not for man to decide when the old passes away and the new comes. It's what is promised in the Bible.” He continued, “The
word of God is absolute. If the Bible tells us that the old will pass away,
will this not come true someday? Faith is seeing and believing when the promise
in God's word is fulfilled. Living a long life of faith or attending church
does not guarantee one's salvation.”
He continued, “It is
your responsibility to find the path to salvation and become God's people. We
must be born again with the word of God. Let's live with God in this new
promised era."
Earlier, in October and November,
Chairman Lee delivered lectures at the ‘Open Bible Seminar on the Second Coming
and Harvest’ in seven major cities nationwide. The Open Bible Seminar, which
opened in Seoul at the Grand InterContinental Parnas Hotel on October 4th,
continued on to Incheon, Daejeon, Daegu, Busan and Gwangju, with an additional seminar
in Jeju last month.
At the first Open Bible
Seminar in Seoul, the chairman delivered a lecture on the theme ‘The New Work
of Creation: Who am I in the Bible?’ Chairman Lee explained that, according to
the New Testament, today is the time when the book of Revelation is being
fulfilled and Jesus does the work of harvest through angels. He said, "The traditional church teaches that
weeds are people who do not believe in Jesus, but people who do not believe in
Jesus are just an empty field where the seed of the Word has not been sown. As
the book of Revelation is being fulfilled, there is separation between those
who are harvested and those who are not. Today, one must be harvested, sealed,
and belong to the 12 tribes to be recognised as a child of God. You have to
make sure you are created according to the Bible.”
■The
sincerity of the Chairman and Shincheonji Church of Jesus. Obedience to Scripture Comes First
The 'Open Bible Seminar on the
Second Coming and Harvest' ended in Jeju Island on 19th November. Seminars were
then held at 72 branch churches nationwide where all 12 tribes of Shincheonji
Church of Jesus were directly instructed to testify the fulfilment of the book
of Revelation.
The 12 Tribes' Open Bible Seminar was held because
of the flood of inquiries into Shincheonji Church of Jesus’ Bible study following
the nationwide Open Bible Seminar. To date, more than 60,000 people have
registered for their online Bible study course.
Chairman Lee delivered a message under one point, which was "resolving problems through discussion instead of infighting among believers".
Chairman Lee pointed out: "Shincheonji Church of Jesus is different from the existing Church
because it emphasises the coming of a new era. It is important that one is
reborn with the word, seed and spirit of God instead of boasting about one's
denomination. One needs to empty one's mind in order to have good faith."
An official of Shincheonji
Church of Jesus said, “We are focusing on
preaching the Word of God faithfully as we usher in an era of one million
graduates.”
