Blasphemy, sedition, violation of banking laws, forgery & embezzlement: the recent case of Pastor Gwanghun Jeon, head of the Christian Council of Korea (CCK)

In light of recent reports published over the last week by the Economist, New York Times and Korea Times, many people will be aware of the blasphemous remarks made by Mr. Gwanghun Jeon, pastor and head of the Christian Council of Korea (CCK). Following Pastor Jeon's outrageous comments, an online petition was set up this week urging him to resign and calling for the immediate shutdown of the CCK. It has so far gathered 40,000 signatures, and counting.
Mr. Jeon failed to respond to a police order issued foru times for charges pertaining to having held an illegal demonstration at a rally in October 2019 where he meted out accusations against the President of South Korea, Moon Jae-in. The police ultimately issued an arrest warrant and took him into police custody over the weekend at Hyehwa Police Station, Seoul. He was questioned over charges of embezzlement and violation of banking laws for the 'Korean Church Mission Bank Corporation' he set up in 2014 under the pretext of writing off church debts and improving the treatment of pastors.

One member of the Christian community, who serves as a witness against Pastor Jeon, said, "Under the Bank of Korea Act, one has to secure official approval from the Financial Services Commission in order to operate a bank. Moreover, use of the term ‘bank’ for commercial use is only permitted when operated as a bank, like the Bank of Korea. Pastor Jeon set it up without approval from the FSC or compliance with banking regulations."

Pastor Jeon is also being investigated on allegations that he collected monies from Christians throughout South Korea - yet such finances are nowhere to be found - and for having forged his resumé and letter of recommendation when running as chairman of the CCK.

Formal complaints for forgery were filed in February 2019 and charges pertaining to violation of banking laws, embezzlement and breach of trust filed in April 2019 at Seoul Central Prosecutors’ Office.

  3. The minister is making a statement in the thought that he is on an equal footing with God, and the minister must now be punished!

  4. Politics and religion should be separated. A pastor should never get involved in politics. And the shepherd who believes in God blaspheme. This minister proved himself to be Satan's minister.
