The Lord Almighty has sworn,
“Surely, as I have planned, so it will be, and as I have purposed, so it will happen." (Isaiah 14:24)
These are two of many scriptures which show that God first prophesies what He will do and then He fulfils it. Why? So that, at the time when the prophecy is being fulfilled, it can be clearly testified so that people will believe He is alive and at work. This is why Jesus spoke these words to his disciples in John 14:29: "This is why I have told you now, so that when it does happen you will believe." God proves Himself to be alive through this logical process of prophecy and fulfilment.
Through the Old Testament prophets, God prophesied about the coming of a Saviour. 2000 years ago, Jesus came to earth to fulfill all the Old Testament prophecies, as God promised (Jn 19:30). He also bore the cross for the sins of humanity and promised to return by fulfilling a new covenant at the Second Coming. He will, this time, fulfill the New Testament, as God promised (Revelation 21:6). The prophecy and fulfilment of this New Testament Revelation is delivered through the lips of a messenger sent by Jesus (Revelation 22:16) who has seen all the events of Revelation (Revelation 22:8). The hope of believers can only be fulfilled if they believe and follow this new covenant, which is the New Testament and its fulfillment. This is why all people must come and meet the Promised Pastor so that one can believe and receive salvation.
