Alongside this explosive growth that will surely signal a wind of change within the Christian and religious world, Shincheonji church has been tirelessly serving local communities throughout the Republic of Korea and abroad. From January-May 2019, 60,000 members of Shincheonji church participated in a huge range of voluntary activities including conservation of the environment, medical aid and support for war veterans. 3000 Shincheonji church members have regularly given blood to address the national blood shortages. Immediate aid was provided at the time of the breakout of the forest fire that ravaged much of mountainous, forested north-eastern province of Gangwon, which is under the care of Philip tribe - one of Shincheonji church's 12 tribes.

Shincheonji Church of Jesus, The Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony (hereon ‘Shincheonji church’) celebrated the ‘Feast of Tabernacles’ on July 14^th at their headquarters in Gwacheon, Republic of Korea.

The Feast of Tabernacles is one of several feasts celebrated in Shincheonji church. It originates from the time when the children of Israel came out of Egypt and God established booths or tents for them during their years in the wilderness. The feast was to be kept as a lasting ordinance so that the generations to come would remember that event (Lev 23:33-44). The meaning and significance of the Feast of the Tabernacles in our times today is in commemoration of those who have come out of spiritual Babylon and become the tabernacles (house) where the Holy Spirit dwells and gathers to worship God.

The Feast of Tabernacles on 14^th July comprised of a sermon by Chairman Lee, who is the promised pastor of the New Testament. After explaining the significance of this feast in the Old Testament, Chairman Lee said: "We should not think about the significance of this feast in the past, but in the present day. The Bible says that Egypt refers to the flesh. Today, we are giving thanks to God who harvested us from the many denominations of the world and brought us to The Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony, as promised in Revelation 15.” Indeed, the faithwalk of a congregation member of Shincheonji church is to live a life of faith in accordance with the Bible.

The special feast was celebrated with the 12 tribe leaders and was broadcast live to churches worldwide. Other special feasts celebrated in Shincheonji church are Passover (January 14), the Feast of Ingathering (September 24), and the Founding of the Establishment of Shincheonji (March 14th).

Taegukgi is comprised of three parts: a white rectangular background, a red and blue Taeguk (flag) in its centre, and four black trigrams on each corner. Citizens were not only informed about Korea’s history but also Taegukgi’s symbolic representations of heaven, earth and water. Many citizens were unaware of this fact.

One parent said, "We must tell this fact not only to us but also to our students. With what we have learned, we will inform our children. Thank you." An official of Shincheonji Church, Ulsan branch, said, "I am glad to see that Ulsan citizens understand the fact they did not know Taegeukgi when they heard the explanation, and I am thankful that they appreciated it."

Mrs. Song, who was recently diagnosed with malignant lymphoma, is one of hundreds of believers who are yearly forced to receive 'coercive conversion' in the Republic of Korea. ‘Coercive conversion’ is a vile programme created and implemented by pastors of the Christian Council of Korea (CCK) to convert believers of minority belief systems to the CCK's Presbyterian teachings. Pastors evade legal punishment by deceiving family members into believing their loved one has joined a cult, inciting them to drag their own loved one for 'conversion education'. This had led to two deaths in recent years with pastors getting away scot-free.

Back in July 2018 in Gwangju city, Mrs. Song had joined Shincheonji church (full name: Shincheonji Church of Jesus, The Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony); a growing church with a congregation of 30,000 believers which the CCK considers a threat to their religious authority. Shortly after, her husband read false rumours online about Shincheonji church and was deceived by coercive conversion pastors into believing that she had joined a cult and needed to undergo conversion education. In April 2019, with the incitement of coercive conversion pastors, he physically abused her, biting her and dragging her from room to room at their family home where she was driven out and left penniless on the streets, separated from her three children. Fortunately, she was able to secure police protection and returned home where her husband, parents and siblings reassured her of their respect for her beliefs. However, they soon began to challenge her beliefs and, on 9th June, she was dragged away to the fifth floor of an established church where she underwent coercive conversion education for a period of nine days.

Immediately, coercive conversion pastors forced her to read lies and watch false reports about Shincheonji church online in an attempt to entice her to consent to receiving conversion education. She refused and demanded that these so-called religious pastors explain the meaning of the Bible - especially Revelation - to her (which Shincheonji church could do). They couldn’t and grabbed her by her hair and trousers, dragged her from room to room and said that Shincheonji church was responsible for her marital breakdown. She went on hunger strike. After a postman read a note that she had slipped under the door, he informed police authorities who stormed into the church building on 18th June. Her health had deteriorated significantly and was taken immediately to hospital for treatment in Cheonan. She had lost 7kg.

On June 27^th, Cheonji Daily visited the church in question to request an interview with the pastor and related personnel, but the church responded by saying that the pastor was absent. Mrs. Song remains in hospital, worried whether her family will plot something else. In South Korea today, there are hundreds of people whose human rights have been violated behind the guise of religion.

Mr In-sik Kim from Daejeon said: “No religion has ever explained to me the secret of life and death in such a logical way”, adding, “it was so simple, clear and explicit. And it was done in a relaxed and joyful environment where I discovered the true meaning of life, death and pain.”

The reason why the Zion Mission Centers are becoming so popular is because people are yearning for ‘truth’ in an aggressively secular and material age. Moreover, the traditional church, is unable to provide answers to life’s biggest questions. The Open Bible Seminar was able to address some of these questions through the topic ‘Life and Death: The Secret of Life, Aging, Sickness and Death’. Explanations about Revelation, the final book of the Bible which records God’s promise for a world free of mourning death, crying or pain, could be clearly given.

This is why I learned the teachings of the Bible at the Zion Mission Center. A clear explanation could be given for the cause of my pain in life - whether emotional, physical or psychological - along with a clear explanation of God’s plan to put a permanent end to all mourning, death, crying or pain, as promised in Revelation. People are flocking in thousands to listen to this word; not only in South Korea, but throughout the world. This is truly hopeful.
